On the heels of a busy fall with a Series B funding announcement with participation from Resideo and continued momentum in the consumer and builder channels, Brilliant has announced the addition of Reza Raji to its leadership team as chief business development officer.
In his role, Raji will be tasked with building out the company’s business strategy and relationships with security and home automation vendors.
“I’ve known and respected Reza for many years,” shares Aaron Emigh, co-founder and CEO of Brilliant. “He’s a true pioneer in the industry, with a stellar track record of foreseeing trends and building industry-wide coalitions. As Brilliant enters the next phase of our growth, I’m thrilled to work with Reza to achieve leadership positions in new markets.”
A veteran technology executive with a proven track record in innovating, delivering, and scaling game-changing enterprise and consumer solutions, Raji has led many successful companies including Xenio Systems, his most recent role as CEO; preceded by iControl Networks, where he oversaw the most widely deployed security and connected home platform in the industry used by ADT, Comcast, Time Warner, and many others, as CEO and& chairman; and Echelon, where he pioneered and drove the company’s initial internet (IoT) strategy as senior director of business development. His seminal work at Echelon in the late ’90s in marrying sensors and devices to the Internet laid the groundwork for not only iControl, but also many other IoT and cloud-based products and businesses that today leverage the power of remote connectivity and control.
“At iControl we enabled service providers to deliver true mass-market home security and automation to tens of millions of homes,” says Raji. “Brilliant’s unifying, elegant user experience and vast ecosystem support offers a new inflection point and a huge opportunity to deliver a brand-new connected home and security experience in today’s crowded and disjointed market. I’m very excited to be joining the stellar Brilliant team to help scale the business.”
Reza is the recipient of the 2014 CEA Innovation Entrepreneur Award – Executive of the Year. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Electronics Association’s Home Networking and IT Division as well as a Founding Board Member of the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) Steering Committee. Raji has an impressive 40+ patents and 38+ pending patent applications.
