Brilliant Expands Its Smart Home Ecosystem with Johnson Controls and Shelly Integrations

Brilliant is growing what a connected home can do. Two new integrations bring additional security control and whole-home presence sensing into the Brilliant platform, all managed through the same simple interface homeowners already use for lighting, climate, access, music, and automation.

Here is what's new.

Security system access, now built into every Brilliant Control

Brilliant's integration with the Johnson Controls IQ Panel 5 puts security within reach anywhere in the home. Homeowners can arm and disarm their IQ Panel 5 system directly from any Brilliant Control, and add alarm functions to Brilliant's Scenes and Modes so security runs alongside the rest of their automations.

Because a Brilliant Control installs into a standard light switch location or anywhere ethernet is present, security controls can live in rooms where a dedicated panel was never practical. The result is a unified experience that adds convenience and strengthens protection at the same time.

Whole-home sensing and control with Shelly

Brilliant is also formally announcing the integration with Shelly. Shelly motion and door/window sensors were already part of the Brilliant Max subscription offering, but now both companies are sharing further and deeper support for more Shelly devices.  

Shelly's sensors added real-time presence awareness across the home - triggering alerts when the home is not occupied. Future Brilliant Max releases will feature the ability for additional triggers - such as the HVAC being shut off when a window is opened for an extended period at night.

The first two sensors, the Shelly Bluetooth Motion and the Shelly Bluetooth Door/Window, connected directly over Bluetooth to a Brilliant Control. With the introduction of support for the Shelly Bluetooth-to-Wi-Fi Gateway, devices can be paired via Wi-Fi as well.

The integration expands further with the Shelly relay lineup, scheduled for release by the end of September. Shelly relays let Brilliant control and automate switches, outlets, appliances, low-voltage devices, pumps, motors, and nearly any wired electrical item in the home, bringing previously unconnected devices into a fully managed Brilliant home.
