Oct '17 Update - Series A And Awards

Hello, Brilliant followers and pre-order customers! It's been an exciting month here at Brilliant, and we would like to share the latest news and give you an update on our progress.  

First, we are excited to announce our Series A investment of $21 million, one of the largest Series A investments in the smart home industry to date. It was led by our good friends at August Capital, with participation from other notable investors such as Miramar Ventures, The Box Group, and the Stanford-StartX Fund. We are thrilled to have them on board!

We have also been building out our team, adding Kostas Reissis as our new VP, Sales, Brian Fukumoto as our new VP, Operations, and some great new engineers. Kostas was previously a sales executive at Sonos for 13 years, helping grow them into one of the most successful consumer electronics brands.  Brian is a well-known expert in scaling technology operations, having built up global manufacturing at Palm, Hewlett-Packard, and DataDirect. We are in good hands!

We are deep in testing of Brilliant Controls at this stage, ensuring they can handle various loads, configurations, real-life situations, and comply with industry standard codes for safety and installation standards. The design team is crafting our packaging and owner manuals, making sure the "out of box" experience is great, and installation will be as easy as possible. It's very exciting to see the final pieces coming together! 

We remain on track to start shipping our pre-orders in late November (retail sale in early 2018). The next few weeks of testing are critical, however, so you can expect another update with more specifics from us as we finish this phase. We are committed first and foremost to getting you a great product.
